In order to for the bulbs to truly be smart, you will have to start with a smart hub. Your closest Home Depot sells the Wink Hub 2 for less than a hundred dollars. The smart hub is what allows your smart products to work together through an app on your smartphone, tablet or desktop computer.
Once you have your hub all set up (and that’s easy too, all you need is a wall outlet and an internet connection), all you need are the LED light bulbs. Install the bulbs and connect them to the hub via their instructions and voila! You are now part of the modern world. Depending on the type of bulb, you can turn it on or off, dim the brightness or change the color from virtually anywhere.
LED lights use up a tenth of the electricity that the old incandescents used. They are bright, functional and convenient. Even if used daily, they can last over 11 years!
