Right this very minute homes and living spaces are being designed and built with smart technology in mind. With a smart home you can control lighting, heating, and electronics all from your mobile devices or computer. Smart technology can make your home safer, more energy efficient and improve your quality of life. They can even make everyday life so much more fun and convenient. Long gone are the days of dull lighting.

There are so many benefits to smart home living. Reduced energy cost on heating and air conditioning. Improved security and safety. Next level entertainment options. Best of all, automation of regular living duties. That means no more grocery shopping or vacuum cleaning, unless you want to!

These reasons touch the surface of why the future is moving to Smart Homes and why it’s time to move along with it. One of the first steps you can take to upgrade your home is to start with your lighting.

The easiest option, and it’s something everyone can do, is to change out every bulb in your house with an LED smart bulb. If you can’t upgrade all your bulbs at once, start with the hard to reach areas, that way you won’t have to worry about replacing them for a very, very long time. Awhile ago we wrote up this guide to helping you choose the perfect LED bulb.

In order to for the bulbs to truly be smart, you will have to start with a smart hub. Your closest Home Depot sells the Wink Hub 2 for less than a hundred dollars. The smart hub is what allows your smart products to work together through an app on your smartphone, tablet or desktop computer.

Once you have your hub all set up (and that’s easy too, all you need is a wall outlet and an internet connection), all you need are the LED light bulbs. Install the bulbs and connect them to the hub via their instructions and voila! You are now part of the modern world. Depending on the type of bulb, you can turn it on or off, dim the brightness or change the color from virtually anywhere.

LED lights use up a tenth of the electricity that the old incandescents used. They are bright, functional and convenient. Even if used daily, they can last over 11 years!

There are so many ways that you can make your life easier using LED lighting. What are some ways that it has improved your life? Let us know in the comments below!
